Jacob Bacon commented on OFBIZ-5522:
------------------------------------

I don't feel that it makes sense to compromise the functionality for the vast majority of users in order to support a small (and getting smaller) group of odd balls who refuse to update. We are supporting IE8 on production websites using rivets and not seeing problems. IE7 is a problem but, let's face facts, IE7 has plenty of problems and it would be nice to see it go away. Windows Server 2008 shipped with IE7 and it is not EOL until 2018 but exactly what sort of customer is using their ERP system on a Windows Server 2008 system that could not have its browser upgraded?

> After a discussion with Ean, was suggested (draft here):
> You need a service that lets you "subscribe" a widget to an entity and
> then propagate change events to the widget as the entity is modified.
> A generic mechanism like that could eventually expand to be a general
> purpose "data bound widgets" system that mostly looks like the existing
> system but magically reflects updates.
> Could be used with/for
> * The entity cache and webforms to automatically update views when data changes.
> * Replaces the current system notes
> * Create a dashboard type pages  (to be discussed futher)
