David Hughes-Owens commented on OFBIZ-5545:
-------------------------------------------
Hi Jacques, no I do not appear to be able to re-open this issue.
Having done a bit more investigation, I can see that there is a field on the Create Transaction screen for Custom Time Period, but this is not automatically populated or a mandatory field.
I also notice that the Custom Time Period is also a field on the Acctg Trans entity, but again not populated by default or a mandatory field.
I think therefore it should be simple matter of populating this field in all cases. This can be done automatically based on the transaction date.
When posting transactions it should then check the Custom Time Period instead of the transaction date. If the period is closed it should then be possible to change the custom time period associated to the transaction and post to a different period.
The transaction date should remain unchanged and reflect the true date of the transaction.
> Be able to set the period the GL transaction applies to

> Currently, when doing gl transactions (whether automated/scheduled or manually), the transaction is always associated with the current (running) time period.
> However, it is general practice to have transactions (mainly corrective) after a period has been past, e.g. as a result of audits and such.
> Therefore, it should be possible to set a period on each gl transaction that overrides the default.
