Pierre,
I just tried with a fresh tomcat7 installation and it didn't work.
Running ofbiz on external tomcat allows deploying existing WAR applications on the same server. If we can integrate these war files with ofbiz then it's great.
However, I didn't feel there is interest from the ofbiz team to do this. I tried it in the past, and didn't get anywhere.

If I do get anything working, I will share it with the community.
