Pierre Smits commented on OFBIZ-5704:
-------------------------------------
Based on the scarce information provided by Adrian, I can only surmise that he is thinking about lots/batches in a different context (business domain and processes) than the one I tried to explain in the postings I provided here.
It is a pity that he uses 'pissing contest' and 'arguing for arguments sake' in order to short cut this discussion to get to a good solution that will enhance the OFBiz product. He must have lost it somewhere.

> Rationale
> Lot or batch management affects two places, namely the outbound process (and its functionalities) and inbound.
> It is possible that multiple parties have the same ID for the batch or the lot. Howver, in current feature set there is no discrimination between lots from supplier A, supplier B, or even the primary (internal) company in OFBiz.
> Therefore the entity 'Lot' should be extended with another key, namely that of the partyId of the manufacturer (or supplier).
