Explosive patch? What do you mean with that.
For what it is worth, PartyRole is directly used. Namely in the following screen:
http://demo-stable-ofbiz.apache.org/partymgr/control/viewroles?partyId=adminand all associated functions for adding, editing and deleting.
From there it is a feeder in every screen/function/service and entity that has a relation on it.
