The patch is a step in the right direction, but it needs more work. The Groovy script replaces request parameters, but instead it should use them if they exist, and provide configured defaults if they don't exist.
My preference would be to make these User Preferences - which would simplify the implementation (no need to use properties) and it would be customizable per user.
