Maybe there is some problem with my patch...
So, In the screenshot you will see :
1 - New application menu style (limit to 8 applications, the others in the "more" scrolldown menu)
2 - New second level menu style
3 - New vectorial OFBiz Logo with the avatar picture of the user
4 - New user preference popup
5 - New style for the footer.
You can also change colours (4 colours theme already available).
There is some other changes in several hover, button, selected, screenlet style. But yes, it quite similar than the flat grey.
I didn't want to start from scratch and flat grey was my preference :)
