I am not suggesting we blindly follow Google, far from it. Nor am I suggesting Google's data model will do everything we want. Their model could be too big, unwieldy and overly complex. Or it might be too limited and not capture everything we want.
What I am saying is when we decide we want to incorporate an item in our own data model, we should try to name that item consistently with other organisations. To my mind, the Universal Postal Union names are more important than Google's, but they both have some relevance. UPU S42 is trying to set up standard templates for addresses for different countries. So while there is variation in the components and the ordering of those components within a postal address, the template for a country defines what the components are for a well-formed address. In general, we should be informed by standards like this and attempt to follow them. Inventing our own arbitrary names will lead to confusion and the danger we might need to rename them in future.
Specifically, street number and street name are common components of addresses in many places in the world. Because they are well known and widely used, we should choose names for these items with care.
