Feel free to open such a conversation if you think that it deserves the time and attention of all the developers.
I personally don't think that your proposal makes sense since you didn't discuss the priority of this ticket before either: in my opinion this is a topic that can be managed by the smaller group of interested parties who are interested in resolving this ticket, and in this group you seem to be the only one who thinks that its severity should be Blocker.
