I researched around it and confirm that PRODUCT_ORDER_ITEM will be default if order item type not selected for purchase order. So, there are two ways to fix this issue either add 'PRODUCT_ORDER_ITEM' as an option in drop-down or simply show a tooltip, like, PRODUCT_ORDER_ITEM will be default / Default value will be PRODUCT_ORDER_ITEM / similar...
