We need to add this module in checkstyle.xml

<module name="NeedBraces">
    <property name="allowSingleLineStatement" value="true"/>
 </module>

After this, single line statements like:

if (Debug.verboseOn()) Debug.logVerbose(...)

Will be considered safe.
