Hello,
i`quite new to ofbiz and i use v. 11.04 (trunk). Actually i test the product types for my needs.
my example:
I sell in cartridges. I have f.ex 4 cartridges (magenta, blue, yellow,black) from my supplier where each item fits into many printer. Each cartridge is available as an original and a compatible version with different prices.
The customer should find a product page directly for his printer, and other pages for other printer (so not only one page for all). On that page he shall have the option to choose the version (compatible or original) and get the right price.
I know i can handle options and so on with furutres, but my problem is, that I want to have a base product (real product), which has an inventory or stock management. The product I show to the customer should just be like a product layer, cause I have many product pages which refer to the same real product, but under another name.
I tried it with futures / virtual product ... but the virtual product produces his own extra product in database (why?) and refers to it - even if I allready connected my own real product.
example:
real product: product with variants, future "compatible" added
real product: product with variants, future "original" added
product layer for customer: virtual product, future "compatible", "original" added and assosiated the real product as "product variant" with the product layer for customer
After that I can see the product layer in my shop and can choose the future, BUT the System creates a new product with its own product ID and all configurations like I allready did for the real product. Now I have to change this one to get a price and so on on my web page. If I change the real product, I created by my self, nothing happens.
But for me it is important to get connected to the real product created by myself, cause I have to assosiate other product layers for customers to the same product to get a correct stock management.
Do you have any Ideas? Oris it allready the wrong way and maybe its much easier...
