search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
Hello,

I have a question about the search tool in ofbiz in the ecommerce
component and screen.

I use release 09.04.

The search result which is requested in the groovy file uses the
getProductSearchResult method in the ProductSearchSession.java file.

Via different steps and java files i see that there are created
ConstraintLists to create the limited search result.

I can't find in any ConstraintList a WhereCondition made to limit or
to exclude products with productid's which are have a discontinuation
date configured.

The result is that i see in any search which is done in the ecommerce
screen , there appears products which are not sold anymore.

Is this "problem" solved in version 10 or 11 ?

How has knowledge about this item?

Regards,
Heidi

Hmmmm.

I assume you talk about products that have already expired, ie. the
lifecycle end-date would be < than today.

Did you expire the products in question from your shop's SEARCH category as
well?

Once I do that to any product (regardless whether expired or nor) they will
not be found throug the search function on the site.

All these are guesses, so could you describe symptoms using an example?

Regards

Re: search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
Hello Carsten,

I mean i configure some products in the catalogmanager with the "Sales
discontinuation through date" = date in the past.
When i do a certain search then in the ecommerce component, i want not
to have displayed this product as result from the search query.
However it is displayed.

For me it is an error in the searchroutine.

PS.: Is there a certain SEARCH category? I don't understand your
question: "Did you expire the products in question from your shop's
SEARCH category as well?"

Heidi

Hello Carsten,

I think i have the wrong philosophy in my mind.

Do i have to add each product in a special search category (with type
"search") in order to let the search tool work optimally?

Heidi

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
Hello,

Concept of using a search category seems not to work if the aim is to
limit the products in a search in the ecommerce screen, in release
09.04.

You mean the point <<3. Default Search (One):>> here is false?

Re: search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
Jacques,

I don't see the result in my release 09.04 when i set up a search
category with only one product in it for example. I still get all the
products in the search possibility in the ecommerce screen.

3.Default Search (One): if a Default Search category is configured
only the products in this category will show up in product search
results.

Have you examples that it should work in release 09.04?

Regards,
Heidi

Hi Heidi,

Sorry did not get a chance to have a look, I will try...

You may help by reproducing the setting you used on stable demo
https://demo-stable.ofbiz.apache.org/catalog/control/main?USERNAME=admin&PASSWORD=ofbiz&JavaScriptEnabled=Y
http://demo-stable.ofbiz.apache.org/ecommerce/control/main

We could then check tomorrow morning (European hours) if you want. For that don't build it today but tomorrow morning at business
hours (ie after 9 AM), else it will be lost (demo restart each morning aroung 7h30)

Re: search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
Hello Jacques,

I have the problem on my http://www.olagos.eu   release 09.04. (which
i never updated).  .... only modified.

If i want to reproduce the problem on the demo tomorrow morning for example:
http://demo-stable.ofbiz.apache.org/ecommerce/control/main
then i have to be able to delete one Gizmo product from for example
the search category which is not possible on it. I tested it.

If you can delete one Gizmo product in the category_search1 category,
i should be able to test the problem on that server.

Regards,
Heidi

Re: search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
Then i could search for example for the keyword "gz".

If i delete one gz... product in the searchcategory , i should not
find that product when i do a search in the ecommerce screen on the
keyword "gz".

That should give definitely an answer if it works or not.

Heidi

Re: search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Heidi Dehaes - Olagos
ok

I deleted product GZ1004 as member of the category1_search which is
defined for every Gizmo product. (via the webtools).
Known that every gizmo product has a product id starting with "gz", i
did a search in the ecommerce screen for the keyword "gz".
However i find all Gizmo products when i delete the option "only
featured products" in the search header screen in the ecommerce
screen.
Thus i find all Gizmo products and thus also the GZ1004 product which
is not part anymore of the "category1_Search" search category.

I think the GZ1004 should not show up anymore in a search ,  in that case.

Regards,
Heidi (& Eric, my husband).

Mmm, indeed, I will double-check your scenario when I will get a chance, on trunk also.
Then I will open a Jira or maybe fix it directly

Re: search tool in ecommerce screen lets see also products which are discontinued for sale.

Hi Hedi,

I don't know how you did it, but on trunk demo If I delete the "Demo Default Search" category (catalog1_search) for GZ-1004 then it
does not appear on default search from eCommerce search. If I re-add "Demo Default Search" then it appears again.
So it seems related to the way you did or maybe you did not remove the same type of category than used by default

Jacques
