seeking "General Ledger" report

Phillip Rhodes
Hi,
My accountant is looking for a report that he calls a "General Ledger"
report.  This report lists all the transactions for each of the accounts in
the chart of accounts.

Is this report available in ofbiz? I see the "GL Account Balance", but I
would have to do this for each account.

Thanks!
Phillip

There are bunch or reports in Accounting application. If you have some programming experience, It will be easy to generate such report by extending what's OOTB.

What is the purpose of the report you are looking for?

I think the account (CPA who is doing the tax return) uses this report to do a review of all transactions and ensure they are properly categorized and to have a copy for his records of what is in the system.

Is there an online resource that lets us determine what is available
OOTB, as well as what an accountant usually requires, so a rational
assessment can be made as to what, if any, extensions we may require?
I am an experienced software engineer, but I know almost nothing about
what accountants need from a product like OFBiz.  One of the
challenges I have faced in exploring OFBiz is that I see reports and
various forms but have little idea as to what some of them are for
(obviously some are relatively self explanatory, but others, so far,
have remained a mystery): that is one of the challenges of using
OFBiz, in that one may have a deep understanding of some parts of it
(in my case ecommerce), because of extensive experience in it, but
little understanding of other parts (in my case accounting), because
of having virtually no experience in it.  That makes it hard to offer
support to businesses that would benefit from using some or all of it.

Thanks

Ted

Ted,
I understand what you mean.

Ofbiz has OOTB support for many business processes or may be we can say, there is not much that is not available OOTB in Ofbiz.

To use Ofbiz effectively, unfortunately we have learn business processes and then map them to various artifacts in Ofbiz. For accounting I recommend following book,
