Users - style sheet

Hello,
can someone tell me how to use my own style sheet? I know by default the
system use maincss.css under framework/images/webapps/images, I tried to
use my own style sheet for some ftl files, I put the sheet in the same
location as maincss.css is, and in ftl I set hef=/images/a.css, but
didn't work. I also tried to append my sheet in the maincss.css, didn't
work either.
