yes it could be a good way to go. Some visual editors also understand
JSP taglibs, and OfBiz has some that ease working with the framework...
Not sure how up-to date they are with the emphasis on FTL and the newer
Widgets system.
The main reason for FTL is execution speed. It's much, much more faster
than JSP. The other reason for FTL is a more enforced separation of code
from display logic. JSPs make it all too easy to mix code in with your
display code. Additionally FTL has some nice features that ease display
of of data - whether using the <#list> tag to iterate over a list, or
testing ?if_exists or ?has_content - as compared to representing those
with the JSP technology that was available at the time.
OTOH - the JSTL and JSF work render some of FTL's (at least as rendering
HTML pages is concerned) features into mere syntactic sugar...
