performFind service

Hello everybody,

I need to use the performFind  service to find entities with a date
attribute that come before or after a certain date given as parameter. for
instance I want to find insurance contracts whose deadline is close and then
send a notification. But I couldn't find something similar in code, where
can I find a similar code in ofbiz?

Here come my other question, if I want to send a notification mail, which
service should I use?
