Dev - Login behavior

Have finally upgraded my sources to the newest, well almost, release.
First Like a lot of the screen layout.
However the login screen seems to pop up alot more than I thinks is
necessary.
For examples the Lookups. Shouldn't we be passing and/or parsing the
current login.
I notice there  is a procedure, now, to lookup the parties current
login. is this going to be integrated at the widget level core level, or
  at the XML level?
