why re-entry of description/price while adding invoice item?

Hi ,

While creating invoice  on adding an invoice item ,
Why are we requiring to specify description and price  of items to be
added , should it not automatically come from product description and
product pricing , if it has already been specified there ?

It appears so because the form does not get pre-filled.
But added items do bear descriptions and prices.
