john, that's definitely not true.
You as the sender of your own mail cannot see it in gmail until someone replies. So stop the jibber and get back to work :D 2013/5/22 John <[hidden email]> > Blibbity bloooo, doesn't seem to matter what I send to this address!! Woah there Jacques, now carsten was clearly not being a smart ass in any
way shape or form. In fact, he took a friendly approach to responding to me and made a small joke at the end, emphasizing that he was being friendly by adding the big smiley. But you act as though I came in all complaining and yelling at people and he made some magnificent speech that left me with nothing to say. In other words, what you said was completely unnecessary and out of context of the very simple and very short conversation that we had. There's no way for me to say this without sounding like I have some arrogant attitude, but I don't like it when people think wrongly of me, and it seems to me that you most certainly have the wrong idea about me. At any rate, I actually didn't expect to see my own e-mails come back to me unless someone responded, but that was exactly the problem. The introduction e-mail gave no instructions as to how to post to the list, and only left me with an e-mail address to contact someone if I had a question or needed help with something. I never received a reply from them when I asked about how to send an e-mail to the list and so I just went ahead and posted my question to what I believed to be the correct e-mail address. I didn't hear anything back for over a week, but it was an actual question that most people may not have had an answer too, so not hearing back from that didn't tell me anything. However, when I sent out one asking if anyone was actually seeing what I posted and didn't hear anything back from that, I started to think I really wasn't sending to the correct e-mail. Maybe it's just me, but if I see such a simple question like that with a subject such as, "is this the correct e-mail?", I would open it and say, "Yup, this is the right address for the e-mail list". So that's why I started to wonder if I had the correct e-mail. I did, however, receive an answer to my question when Carsten responded. So thank you, Carsten, for assuring me that I do, indeed, have the correct e-mail address! Now I know for sure that if I don't get a reply it isn't because it's not being seen :) John J. Hi John,
I also purposedly answered in this thread because 1) It was fun 2) You are not the 1st person in this situation A couple+ of times I tried to help these persons. Beause we (the OFBiz team) are not in charge of the OFBiz MLs. The ASF (Apache Sotfware Fundation) infra (infrastructure) team is. Every time I tried to help, I got involved in discussions I'd have been happy to avoid. Eventually feeling like being the culprit of something, when I have none accesses to. Not doing it right when communicating, when I don't even know what on both sides the problem is. So I'm interested by your experience. Is it only related to gmail behaviour? Your emails have come through the moderator queue, meaning that the email address they came from is not subscribed to the mailing list. If a moderator doesn't catch your email, then it won't be seen... and that is more likely to be the reason that no one replies. -David |
