I have also reordered the list at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ERP_software_packages so that OFBiz
is better visible.

I wanted to update to last stable release 13.07.01, but decided to let 12.04.04 because of the specialpurpose issue

Hi Pierre,

Why is the market focus not set to "All Market".

Do you think that OFBiz accounting is not suited for high end market ?

I'd like to have some testimony about that, before updating.

Best Regards,

Gil

There is a lot of work and good design in the system but there are
things that a large scale operation with a professional selection team
including strong IT consultants from a major consulting firm is going to
mark as "Show stoppers".
There are Apache products that are fully professional-grade so we know
that it can be done.

Documentation is not up to professional standards.
   - ongoing effort is still at beginning phases
   - outdated stuff
   - poorly structured
   - lots of problems with grammar, typos and writing style
   - lots of missing topics
On-line help is almost completely missing.

HR looks very primitive in terms of functionality.

UI is a bit old fashioned.
   - UI is too tightly tied to the entity structure rather than user or
task oriented.

Data integration appears to be very primitive
  - export appears to export tables rather than objects
  - connectors for other systems - Salesforce, ADT, Workday,

Packaging as a monolithic project rather than modules
Dependencies screwed up (Framework depending on application modules,
party  depending on marketing, etc.)

Release frequency is uncertain.
No roadmap or vision.

Support and development policies are missing.
  - QA
  - Release
  - EOS and EOL
  - Security fixes
   - etc.

Training materials not available.

Project team too small and insufficiently diverse (Even for Apache's
guidelines for a TLP).

These are all things that can be fixed but it is going to take a lot
more project management than people seem to want.

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb.   --- One
but the light bulb has to want to change.

Re: Apache OFBiz on Wikipedia

Hans Bakker
Ron, the 'show stoppers' as you call them like documentation,
interfacing (did you look at the integration with Apache Camel?), UI,
releases (we do continous release or rolling releases) are all handled
by the many providers we have and that is why we as a company exist.

The system when implemented by larger customers is ALWAYS customized
even so far as to create a new screen shell around the system following
the requirements as the outcome of the BPM (activiti.org) step before
ERP implementation.
