Re: ApacheCon US 2008 OFBiz Training Discount - Register Now!

David E Jones

Which course are you thinking of?

For the framework one (the more technical one) some knowledge of web-
based applications (using any language) and relational databases is
quite helpful. If you have more experience with relevant technologies
you'll get more out of it, but most of this will be higher level so
even if you have very little development experience it will help you
get started with OFBiz development (which is really pretty easy for
the most part, and most things can be done by people with little
technical background; in fact some of the best OFBiz application
developers (framework users) come from a business background as
opposed to a technical background).

For the functionality one (the one-day course) some knowledge of
business practices and processes and terminology will be helpful. This
is meant both for developers and for analysts and designers and will
stay on a business level. The most technical part of it will be the
organization of data using tabular structures, which is something most
business people are familiar with these days.

For both of them: these are high-level, fast-paced training courses
that will give people an introduction to various aspects of OFBiz so
that they can get a good jump-start and know where to go and what to
do next as they get further into OFBiz. For those already experienced
with OFBiz this might be a good refresher, and some of the most
experienced people with OFBiz will be there to answer questions and
hang out.

Re: ApacheCon US 2008 OFBiz Training Discount - Register Now!

BJ Freeman
it is not online, however past conferences are available, including
basic frame work videos.
http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBADMIN/OFBiz+Documentation+Index
look at the training videos.
http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz+Beginner%27s+Development+Guide+Using+Practice+Application
is a good walk through to get a basic understanding of ofbiz.
