Thunderbird to PST File Conversion: Stumbling Block
As it is evident from the above, many users are planning to transfer data from Thunderbird to Outlook. But in the absence of any direct methods, they are not able to execute this conversion. And the major reason behind this is the backend file format that is being used by both the email applications.

Primarily, Thunderbird stores all its data in MBOX file format, and Outlook stores its data in PST file format. Now the contradiction of the file format is the biggest hurdle in this conversion.

Step 2: More About Thunderbird File System & File Location
How to stepExpand
Including the file format dissimilarity Thunderbird also allows users to add multiple profiles using different protocols like IMAP, and POP. And this protocol has its own algo and file structure to save the mailbox data which are mentioned below:

Default Path of the Thunderbird Profile Directory C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\nnnnnn.default

Note: UserName is different on every system for different profiles.

Now, inside the profile directory POP account data is stored in the Mail subdirectory and IMAP stores its data in the ImapMail subdirectory. Moreover, the Mail subdirectory also stores the Local Folders data too.

Here, the Mail folder consists of two files - the one is an actual message file that has no extension and the second one is an index file with MSF extension.

For example, if you go to the above file location, then you will find two files the first one is INBOX and the second one is INBOX.msf. The INBOX file stores all the email message data. Whereas, the INBOX.msf file is used to store the Mail summary i.e. the headers and the summary of emails in the Thunderbird.

Well, after knowing the hurdles it seems like it is an impossible task to proceed with, but don’t worry we are here to make this possible.
