I also found JSON-RPC-Java (http://oss.metaparadigm.com/jsonrpc/),
which is the server side library for Ajax, licensed under Apache 2.0.
There may be other tools but these two together can be used for Ajax like UI. To
me, their more important benefit may be to simplify implementation of
traditional Web UI like changing locality without being forced to “main”
page and transferring Java data structure from server to Javascript without having
to painstakingly generate Javascript initialization output from FTL.
