Hi
Quick question about this one: is there some particular reason why we shouldn't use a handheld device in another type of facility? For example, a retail store? Same would hold true for PDAs and cell phones. I think they're trying to start
off with the code developed by Daniel - which was intended to be used in a warehouse. No reason why it can't be implemented throughout OFBiz though. Adrian,
Would you mind actually looking at the commit? I'm referring to a commit which limited the list of available facilities to WAREHOUSE and am trying to find out if this is a good feature to have added or not. Might this be better based on FaciltyRole instead of
Facility.facilityTypeId? --- Si Chen <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi > > Quick question about this one: is there some > particular reason why we > shouldn't use a handheld device in another type of > facility? Si,
I've looked at the commit and also http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-531 Maybe we have a miscommunication. Your question is valid - handhelds COULD be used in more places than just a warehouse. I think Anil and Jacopo are trying to get something up and running quickly based upon previous work by Daniel - which was for a warehouse. I wasn't trying to be argumentative or anything, I was just trying to contribute background information as to WHY it was committed that way. Si,
I agree going forward we will certainly be using this in facilities other than of type warehouse so I suggest we put it on the to do list in terms of trying to find a sensible way of presenting the facilities with out creating a large list. I see Chris has suggested to use Roles but I've not looked into the merits of that to really comment. Personally from a priority perspective I'll be investing more time on the functional screens to try and get some of those implemented and operating as this first facility selection screen can be quickly and easily customised to suit users requirements as is.
