Hi,
We are actually looking to build a E-commerce site quickly and someone told me about "Ofbiz". and i must say that i was pretty impress about the feature list that it offers. But i found the documentation part bit confusing. Can you tell me from where i should start and what will be the steps to follow which can help me to achieve my goals. Can i get one PDF file which tells me the step to follow for the same. Any help for this will be appreciated. Please guide me and sorry for the trouble which it may cause you. Thanks, -- Abhijeet Pandey |
may be the same documents you have already read.

Hello Abhijeet:
I have written an introductory book - currently in draft form - that you may download covering some very basic OFBiz eCommerce features. Please feel free to download it at: http://www.myofbiz.com. You will need to fill out the survey as requested - but the download, a PDF, is free. This is an end-User guide and not a developer's manual. FYI - I am actively working on the second part to this book - an indepth User guide to the Catalog Manager. (The Catalog Manager is the application used to configure most of the eCommerce site.) Look for availability sometime late next month. (I hope :-) Regards, Ruth Abhijeet Pandey wrote: > Hi, > > We are actually looking to build a E-commerce site quickly and > someone told me about "Ofbiz". and i must say that i was pretty impress > about the feature list that it offers. > > But i found the documentation part bit confusing. How about a link in the wiki explaining this.
if you don't mind. Hi BJ:
Sure. Do I have permissions to write to the Wiki? I'll try and see... The documents that have been around for a while and that may be what you are looking for related to the setup of OFBiz are: http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBENDUSER/Apache+OFBiz+Business+Setup+Guide http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBTECH/Apache+OFBiz+Technical+Production+Setup+Guide There are a lot of other documents out there on various topics. You mention "my goals" and didn't say a whole lot about what those goals were. If you send more detailed information someone might be able to point you more directly to a helpful document. -David On Jul 21, 2009, at 11:44 PM, Abhijeet Pandey wrote: > Hi, > > We are actually looking to build a E-commerce site quickly and > someone told me about "Ofbiz". and i must say that i was pretty > impress > about the feature list that it offers. > > But i found the documentation part bit confusing. Hi BJ:
I'm not sure where to put this. Any suggestions? Also, I'd like to put something under the "Book" section of the Apache site (http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBADMIN/OFBiz+Related+Books) but it doesn't appear as though I can edit that page. For that page you'll have to submit the changes you'd like (preferably via a Jira issue, though an email to the mailing list will do for those) and then a committer can update the content there. -David On Jul 22, 2009, at 11:51 AM, Ruth Hoffman wrote: > Hi BJ: > I'm not sure where to put this. that is normal for a download.
then a dialog box comes up to ask where you want it put or what app to open up with. su2 sent the following on 7/22/2009 1:34 PM: > Hey Ruth, > > I took the survey, it took me to the button "download". Hi BJ:
In this case, there is something wrong with the download...I'll fix it tonight and hopefully it will be ready to go by tomorrow. Ok, easy fix. A typo on my part. Please try again. (Unfortunately you
will have to take the survey again - right now the site is not too intelligent about previous visits. Hope to fix that when I get a chance.) I just tried and it works - but if you are still having problems, PLEASE let me know. Regards, Ruth su2 wrote: > Hey Ruth, > > I took the survey, it took me to the button "download".
