I am an amateur to offbiz.
Now i have a project witch is a selling net shop in hand. At beginning the flow is simple, we don't need supplier chain, accounting and other "advance" abilities. What we need are posting product photos, supporting with Paypay. But these are just beginning. In future we will add Wiki, blog, video and more good thinks of web 2.0. And behind the platform we are also need full ability of offbiz in erp. The problem is I am short in time. I need to know how Long could i get familiar with offbiz, and finish my first stage job(just posting product, supporting paypay ,a good user interface.). |
David, one of the two originators, said 1-4 years. what he did not put
in was the amount of hours to accomplish this. if by posting products, you mean so they show up in the ecommerce application, then that is just a some configuration in the Catalog and off you go. Paypal depends how much you know about remote access but the basics are already for the your specific configuration good UI, may take the year. There are people, that for a fee, will support you. other than that welcome to ofbiz and steep learning curve. x d sent the following on 11/4/2007 7:16 PM: > I am an amateur to offbiz. > Now i have a project witch is a selling net shop in hand. That's pretty much impossible to answer, though that's probably not what you were expecting. It depends on: 1. prior knowledge (both technical and business process related, both general stuff, stuff related to OFBiz, and stuff related to your specific client requirements) 2. ability to pick up new material 3. ability to reason and be creative quickly, and by the sound of it also under pressure How long would you expect to be required to learn a big ecommerce package like ATG or Blue Martini (both the technical and business sides)? How long would you expect to be required to learn an ERP system, or even just a fulfillment and order-processing specific system? In any case, if you're bright and tech savvy and tend to "get" business stuff, and you're cool with reading and following documentation, you can probably get a site in production that is very similar to the stock OFBiz ecommerce template in a couple of weeks. It has been done before... If you have a harder time with this sort of thing it could take months, and you may not even be able to do it on your own in a reasonable amount of time (ie less than a few years, focused on study and gaining real world experience to learn). -David On Nov 4, 2007, at 8:16 PM, x d wrote: > I am an amateur to offbiz. > Now i have a project witch is a selling net shop in hand.
