Hi team,
Good First Issue label can be used to identify any issue to be a good fit for a new contributor. These issues can be a great way to get started with a project. Then label is widely used by projects on GitHub[2] and quite useful. I propose to introduce a "Good First Issue" like a label to avail more contributions from new people. I noticed there is already a label for GoodForNewContributors[2] used by some projects. We can use the same or have one created as "Good First Issue" as per the conventions all over the world. WDYAT? 1. https://github.com/topics/good-first-issue 2. https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/REEF-21?jql=labels%20%3D%20GoodForNewContributors Thanks and Regards, Aditya Sharma |
That is really a good idea Aditya. It will be really helpful for the
people like me who are starting to contribute. Hi Aditya,
I have no preference. GoodForNewContributors is more explicit than GoodFirstIssue to me, but if people as used to GoodFirstIssue, why not ? Hello,
Good idea, To add some more about GoodForNewContributors, it seems well used in GitLab platform : https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/issues?label_name%5B%5D=good+for+new+contributors So sticking with it seems nice to me. Thanks everyone for your inputs!
I have added following instructions under "How to create a Jira issue" of OFBiz Contributors Best Practices[1] document: Add "GoodForNewContributors" label if you think that it can be a good fit for a new contributor 1. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz+Contributors+Best+Practices Thanks and Regards, Aditya Sharma On Mon, May 10, 2021 at 1:45 PM Gil Portenseigne < [hidden email]> wrote: > Hello, > > Good idea, > > To add some more about GoodForNewContributors, it seems well used in > GitLab platform : > > > https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/issues?label_name%5B%5D=good+for+new+contributors > > So sticking with it seems nice to me. > > Thanks > > Le 07/05/2021 à 15:53, Aditya Sharma a écrit : > > Hi team, > > > > Good First Issue label can be used to identify any issue to be a good fit > > for a new contributor.
