Is Buying Land Still Worth It in Today's Market?

Huroo
Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking seriously about investing in land, but I keep going back and forth. I’m not looking to build anything right away, but I like the idea of owning a piece of property as a long-term asset. I'm seeing a lot of options out there—some rural lots, some off-grid parcels, and even some desert land. But with so many people buying up land, and the uncertainty in the economy, I wonder… is it still worth it? Would love to hear from anyone who's bought recently or is considering it too

There’s no stock market volatility, no renovations or repairs—just a plot of land that’s mine to use however I want, whenever I want. I picked up a small desert lot mostly as a backup plan, but now I'm considering using it for a tiny home or even as a long-term camping spot. One thing I learned: some counties have very few zoning restrictions, so there's a ton of potential if you pick the right location. And with inflation being what it is, land gives you a tangible hedge. No, it's not flashy—but it's dependable. And in this world, that’s pretty rare.

I totally understand the hesitation. I actually bought a couple of off-grid parcels earlier this year, and so far, I don’t regret it at all. The cool thing is that land doesn’t depreciate like cars or electronics—it tends to hold or even increase in value over time, especially as more people look to escape crowded urban areas. Plus, owning land outright (especially when it’s free of debt) gives you real freedom. There's no maintenance like with houses, no tenants, and low annual taxes in most counties. I used a platform that lets you Buy Land Online easily, and I was surprised by how flexible and transparent the process was. I think if you're not expecting a quick flip but instead view it as a long-term hold, it's one of the few assets that still make sense right now.
