Issued and Reserved functions

Hi,

Release 4.
This is going to sound bizarre but, I'm trying to understand how to actually
ship one of my products via order entry.
I have 5 of the products in inventory in the facility associated with the
store. I place an order thru order entry for one of these products.
The order is "Approved".

When I click on "Quick Ship Order" I get the following error message:
"Warning: no shipments created; could not find anything ready and needing to
be shipped."

When I click on "Pack Shipment for Ship Group [00001] then click on "Pack
Item" in the next, Pack Order, screen I get the following error:
"No inventory reservations available; cannot pack this item! [101]"

Clicking on "New Shipment for Ship Group [00001]" then click on "Order
Items" tab,
My product is in the list and Issued + Reserved=Total=Ordered is: [0+0=0] <1
 but there's no checkbox next to it.

How does the product get "Issued" and/or "Reserved"????
Is there some documentation specific to how all this works? I searched and
couldn't find any.

In my product store I have:
Check Inventory: Y
Reserve Inventory: Y
Require Inventory: Y

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Case

Quick Ship should almost always work (I think it even works if an item is
out of stock).  If possible could you try to recreate the problem on a
default install with seed and demo data loaded?  If so please provide the
steps to reproduce so we can take a look.

I use quick ship all the time.  I'm betting there is a setup problem.

Hi Case,

I know this bug happens when you got rental products in your order. These order items cannot be issued (actually they should not be issued), then cannot be completed, and then the order having rental products cannot be completed... Is this also your case ? What products you have in your order ?

For now i think that this bug happens only for rental products, and this bug is in my task list, i will take a look at it very soon.

BTW is there anyone knowing the meaning of these "binary codes ;-)" in PackingSession.java error messages:

Packing session has been completed; be sure to CLEAR before packing a new order! [000]
No inventory reservations available; cannot pack this item! [101]
Not enough inventory reservation available; cannot pack the item! [103]
Not enough inventory reservation available; cannot pack the item! [201]

I am asking about 000, 101...

Bilgin,

The product in question was a "Finished Good". I do have some Configurable
and Variants so I guess I better test with those products as well.
