Ray Barlow commented on OFBIZ-607:
----------------------------------
I must admit to not having looked at these screens lately but I'm happy to see them progressing and thanks for the effort.
As the roles of picker and packer require different skills which generally leads to different people doing the jobs it would make sense to me if I'm working in my "packer" role that I would find my work to do under the packing screens link. That does not preclude the picking screens from having some sort of overview report which lists picked orders but this screens sounds more packing functional.
I think most would say it is not generally a good idea to allow people to pack their own picks. All to easy to miss a bad pick as you never doubt yourself! We have also been toying with the idea of improving the packing screen to support bar code scanning as we think this would almost completely elimante picking errors and actually speed up the checking process. It would need to be quite a dynamic screen and maybe something ideally suited to using AJAX but these are only ideas we might not get to them this year.

> Currently, in facility manager, under Warehouse > [Packing], you are prompted for an order Id and shipment group seq Id. It would be nice to have a list of orders from this warehouse which are ready for packing, so you can just pick them off the list and pack them, rather than going through the order manager.
> Alternatively, the order manager could have a screen which shows a list of shipments which are ready for packing.
