Yes this is certainly a good idea, viral marketing is very efficient. Keep it clean though (looks like even Google is doing evil
now...)

Re: Leveraging Youtube

AGoens
In reply to this post by BJ Freeman
my example of why you should leverage youtube..
When I was tasked by my boss to find a ERP+Ecommerce solution I first asked him, "do you have any Idea of what program you would like to use?". He said, "Sure, NetSuite but we can't afford it". The first thing I did was google "NetSuite Pricing" and one of the top five links was a You Tube video for a cloud based ERP-Ecommerce company out of England. Good video. I stopped my search, inquired and after 2 days of phone calls and demo driving I realized that this program could never meet my requirements.

From my perspective, small business owners need OFBiz, they just don't know it.  A simple video that has all the right search keywords should do wonders.

Complex and too confusing. They become discouraged and look elsewhere.

Hi Jacopo,  I'm not complaining - I'm merely stating my experiences.

I am also trying to help with the areas that are a problem, such as
documentation, bug fixes, etc.

The way I see the public lists is like an open space office, where people are building together a great software; and having guys in the near desk that can't work in silence, or that have to jump in in every conversation is annoying if you are trying to perform a task.

Kind regards,

Jacopo

I agree with Jacopo,

On the other hand it's also true that Chris try to help and is tossing around some interesting ideas (OSGI, etc.).
So if we could have only this good relation it would be better for everybody I think...

Hi Jacopo:

How can you build great software or any product for that matter, if you
don't listen to what your customer's have to say? In such a case, your
"great software" is only great in your eyes. But perhaps that is what
you want?

Looks to me like you should put on your ear phones and get back to work.
Regards,
Ruth

Do not put words in my mouth: I have specifically addressed my complains (!!!) to you, Matt and Ruth mostly because of the number of messages that you find the time to post, while struggling with OFBiz: I think it is amazing that you are still able to find out the time to study and progress with OFBiz.

I don't have any problem with the community.

Re: Leveraging Youtube

Chris Snow-3
In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
To turn this into a positive, perhaps we need somewhere on the wiki
where we catalog the issues of the community? that way we won't need to
keep fighting these battles.  This shouldn't become an area for slating
ofbiz, it shown be used to document actual issues and what is happening
to resolve them.

At the moment, every one has their own opinion what is best for ofbiz.
However, we all agree that ofbiz needs more people interested in it -
let's find out what users/developers really want from ofbiz?  How about
putting the ofbiz survey to use?  Ruth is right, we should listen to our
customers, especially those that are disheartened.
