Hi Everyone
As the ASF has recently re-branded with a new feather logo, I'm looking to update our OFBiz logo to include the new style feather. This will be then be used on the new website as our logo. The new Apache feather is thinner, has a more detail and uses some new colours. We have come up with a couple of ideas and I'd like to get some community feedback on which people prefer before refining it any further. The first is based on what we have now. The feather complete fills the space of the 'O'. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/download/attachments/61317052/UpdateOFBizLogo.png?api=v2 The old feather was a lot fatter so filled more space of the 'O'. The second puts some whitespace around the feather to make the 'O' more distinct. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/download/attachments/61317052/UpdateOFBizLogo-withUpdatedO.png?api=v2 What do people think? (I like the second one :-) Thanks Sharan |

The second one for me. The contrast is better.

Hello,
It's a good Idea and maybe it could be interesting to change the OFBiz font as well. The problem is that font is not in svg format (always the same mistake) and it could be interesting to use an Open Font. Pros are that it will be easier to change logo dimensions, use this font for marketing materials, etc. Cons I can't find :D What do you think ? Julien. Hi Julien
Are you saying we need to have a svg version of the logo? Or are you saying that the font is the problem and we need to change it? Thanks Sharan |
+1 for option #2 as it better shows the name.

Hi all,
Yes, I prefer the second. The short name of our project is OFBiz, with that capitalisation, pronounced oh-eff-biz ( http://ofbiz.135035.n4.nabble.com/How-to-pronouce-ofbiz-tp3258850p3259371.html). Shouldn't the logo reflect that? Yes indeed, that's something I already asked when the 1st logo was created, I don't remember the answer (if any)

I like how the f of OFBiz is stylised. In the old days (before the EURO) it
was the symbol of the Dutch currency (Guilder), which was derived from the Italian Florin. In that respect I find it fitting to be part of the logo, as it represents money for me. And that relates directly to the product. While we - in general - type the name of our project and product with the first three letters in capitals (OFBiz), we don't have to follow that regime when it comes to logo's, shields, etc. There it is all about brand recognition. And, in my opinion, it doesn't matter that we say: - o-f-biz, - ofbiz, - or however one wants to express it. I get the idea/thought process behind it and I can relate that back to the project or product. And if it unclear to me, I can ask.... So when the project feels it needs to be very strict regarding this, please create the appropriate page (on our website/in our wiki), and you (who feel so) try to enforce it. I won't, as I rather focus on other aspects. Hi
I agree with Pierre in that our logo is about our brand and it could have been absolutely anything but it just so happens that we chose to use a word. The main thing is that when people see the logo – they associate it with OFBiz. For the new website, I included the logo re-branding in the scope because it was something quick and easy to do. The general feedback seems to be that people like the 2nd option. I'm pretty flexible so if someone else from the community wants to work on changing the logo to something different to what I've proposed then that's fine – I can hand over that task. The main thing is that I really need to know quickly so that I don't spend any more time on it. Thanks Sharan |

The first point is yes, we need to have a svg version (it's not a
problem, I could manage to have it). But I was thinking about using OFBiz font for marketing materials.
