Migrating from Exchange 2010 to 2016 can be a complex process, but following these general steps can help ensure a successful migration:

Evaluate system requirements: Before starting the migration, ensure that your environment meets the system requirements for Exchange 2016.

Plan the migration: Develop a detailed migration plan that covers all aspects of the migration, including the migration schedule, user communication, backup and restore procedures, and more.

Prepare the environment: Prepare the Exchange 2016 environment by installing the necessary software and configuring the required settings, such as certificates and virtual directories.

Coexistence with Exchange 2010: Configure coexistence between Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2016, which allows both versions to coexist and ensures that users can still access their mailboxes during the migration.

Migrate mailboxes: Use the Exchange Admin Center or PowerShell to migrate mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016.

Migrate public folders: Migrate public folders from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016 using the Public Folder migration tool.

Decommission Exchange 2010: After all mailboxes and public folders have been successfully migrated, decommission the Exchange 2010 server.
