Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Sameer Bhadale
Hi,
I have followed below steps:
1. Access url - https://demo-trunk.ofbiz.apache.org/catalog/control/main
2. login as admin/ofbiz
3. Click "Create New Catalog" button
4. Updated below fields:
      1. Catalog [ID] as "CAR"
      2. Catalog Name as "CAR Catalog"
      3. Use Quick Add  as "N"
5. Click Update button.

I got the message that "Catalog For "CAR Catalog" [CAR]"  i.e. new catalog created.

But I am unable to see this newly created catalog under "Browse Catalogs/Categories" ( left column)

I believe new catalog created should be available in the left side column under label "Browse Catalogs/Categories"

Let me know if I am missing any step/my understanding is not correct.

Thank you.

Sameer.

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Deepak Dixit-2
Hello Sameer ,

You have created empty catalog there for its not listed under "Browse Catalogs/Categories" .
I have added an existing category in this catalog then its listed under "Browse Catalogs/Categories" .
There is an check in CatalogTree.groovy for this, that prevent empty catalog listing.

Thanks & Regards

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

BJ Freeman
In reply to this post by Deepak Dixit-2
seems that they use to be shown and as Sameer shows that is the
intuitive expectation.
the other alternative is to shift them to created category with a
message they must select/create a category for the catalog to show.

the themes is where you defined how the screens renders to the end user.
this is also defined for specific component/screens in its decorators

Re: Drop down menu with category and subCategory of the same problem

I assume you are trying to work in the ofbiz patterns, so let you know
where to look in ofbiz.
headers are dealt with in themes.
however functinoality of forms and screens are dealt with in the
component/widgets.

if you doing something not in the ofbiz patterns please explain.

Re: Drop down menu with category and subCategory of the same problem

BJ Freeman
if you look in products/widgets (trunk or 10.4) you will see the code
that generates screens and menus. also the data is martialed in the
groovy files, either called out in the Widget or in the web-inf/action
folder with the name of the ftl file, defined in the widget.
The look and feel of these screens are controlled by the code in the
themes folder.
so if you want to change functionality work with the widgets.
if you want you own look and feel then create a new theme.

hope that helps

RE: Drop down menu with category and subCategory of the same problem

hardik handa
I have done all this . Have reffered to sidedeepcategory.ftl and sideepcategory.groovy in ecommerce store for implementation. You are actually not understanding my question mate. I have done all the basic framework activities ! Kindly read my first mail again attaching it again here for your reference.

i was able to get the top level element i.e. category but the subcategory list is a bit dicey. For example whenever i click widgets all the elements in the menu bar on mousemove over give subcategory list of the Widgets, if i click gadgets all of the elements show subcategory list for gadgets !

Re: Drop down menu with category and subCategory of the same problem

David E. Jones-2
In reply to this post by BJ Freeman

BJ: what are you talking about? In what way has this "been moved away from"? Do you mean the use of FTL templates?

Nope. In fact, FTL templates are meant to be used exclusively in customer-facing sites, such as the ecommerce webapp in OFBiz.

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Jacques Le Roux

In reply to this post by BJ Freeman
It's not in CatalogTree.groovy but CategoryTree.groovy. This new behaviour has been introduced by Hans's team at r1055790. I guess
it was easier for them because they build a catalogs/categories tree.
They could handle it better, if someone wants to ask :o)

For now I a line in Catalog creation screen to explain that an empty catalog (no categories in) will not show in the Browse
Catalogs/Categories tree
