OFBIZ is a joke

The installation instruction are bunch of rubbish.
It simply say to run ofbiz with two commands.
This is my 4th day and I cannot start it
On windows 8.1 only gradle services are downloaded and then nothing.
On windows 7 is goes a bit further. It says that build was successful but when I go to localhost:8443/accounting the page is not working.

I wanted simply to play with it but I cannot even open - what a JOKE!!!

Saw your message now , I feel sorry that you  did not have a good install
experience.

Incidentally today i had to demo / train someone on how to install OFBiz on
ubuntu / debian .
From download to getting the login screen it was not more than hour ,
this included making notes by the trainee and answering some of his queries.

The installation instructions may be brief , but i wonder why it took 4
days!!.

After installing a better place to start may be:


Are you sure you typed https://localhost:8443/accounting
http://localhost:8443/accounting may not really work.

I would suggest you open :
https://localhost:8443/partymgr/control/main

Hi Jondon,

sorry that you have those difficulties.

If you follow the comprehensive README file in the root of the project,
it should be only minutes to get OFBiz up and running OOTB.

For good support, you should explain where the problems are else it
would be difficult to help.

8443 is a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port. Please try
https://localhost:8443/accounting if you haven't already done so.

Can you send us a screenshot of the problem you are encountering?

Respectfully, OFBiz is not a joke. Many, many organisations and people have
found it's a very capable Enterprise Resource Planning system with amazing
capability for zero money. Like other open source projects, OFBiz is "free
as in kitten" - there is no need to spend money upfront, but there will
likely be some care and nurturing by you or someone that knows about it.
Nobody in the OFBiz community claims it's perfect, and the initial
out-of-the-box experience can probably be improved. If you do encounter
problems, the more specific you are about them, the better the chance they
can be addressed.

Here at Stannah, we have been using ofbiz for several years now (unfortunately not the latest). We have multiple servers running for the main office and some running in the cloud. Our customers (the business) are very happy with what we produce with it, we have so much work we have expanded our team!

I do believe there could be some updates to the documentation (speaking from experience) but these IMO are minor
