Hi,
Some ASF lists use footers, like --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail:[hidden email] For additional commands, e-mail:[hidden email] --------------------------------------------------------------------- I suggest we do the same with the user ML. So every message sent to the ML would have a footer like --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [hidden email] For additional commands, e-mail: [hidden email] --------------------------------------------------------------------- The obvious advantage is that every user instantly knows how to unsubscribe And can get more information with the help command. What do you think? Jacques |

yes and some mailing lists even include some MIME headers too eg: List-Id: The elegant MVC web framework <catalyst.lists.scsys.co.uk> List-Unsubscribe: <http://lists.scsys.co.uk/cgi-bin/mailman/options/catalyst>, <mailto:[hidden email]?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: <http://lists.scsys.co.uk/pipermail/catalyst> List-Post: <mailto:[hidden email]> List-Help: <mailto:[hidden email]?subject=help> List-Subscribe: <http://lists.scsys.co.uk/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/catalyst>, <mailto:[hidden email]?subject=subscribe> regds mallah. I would suggest maybe keeping the noise down to a minimum. Maybe a simple
unsubscribe link is enough. We rarely get people asking us how to unsubscribe on the ML as it happens only a few times a year. Having too much attached to every single email might be distracting On Sep 2, 2017 7:08 PM, "Ratnesh Upadhyay" <[hidden email]> wrote: > +1 > > Regards, > Ratnesh Upadhyay > HotWax System | www.hotwaxsystems.com > > On 02-Sep-2017 5:11 PM, "Sanjay Yadav" <[hidden email]> > wrote: > > +1 > > Best Regards, > > *Sanjay Yadav* > Manager, Enterprise Quality Assurance > www.hotwaxsystems.com > www.hotwax.co > > > > On Fri, Sep 1, 2017 at 11:15 PM, Jacques Le Roux < > [hidden email]> wrote: > > > Hi, > > > > Some ASF lists use footers, like > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > To unsubscribe, e-mail:[hidden email] > > For additional commands, e-mail:[hidden email] > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > > > I suggest we do the same with the user ML. > > So every message sent to the ML would have a footer like > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [hidden email] > > For additional commands, e-mail: [hidden email] > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > The obvious advantage is that every user instantly knows how to > unsubscribe > > And can get more information with the help command. > > > > What do you think? > > > > Jacques > > > > > |
I agree with Taher.
If the mailing list program automatically adds the footer to every mail, it gets unreadable. Every user who subscribes gets a welcome message with detailed instructions, also on how to unsubscribe. Why bother everyone for just a few cases? Regards, Michael Am 02.09.17 um 18:21 schrieb Taher Alkhateeb: > I would suggest maybe keeping the noise down to a minimum. I also agree with Taher that a simple unsubscribe link is enough. We can
avoid making the emails bulky and too informative, especially for very few cases. Thanks & Regards, Devanshu Vyas. I think we can explore possibility to use List-Unsubscribe email header.
The List-Unsubscribe header is an optional chunk of text that email publishers and marketers can include in the header portion of the messages they send. Recipients don't see the header itself, they see an Unsubscribe button they can click if they would like to automatically stop future messages. Hi Deepak,

Hi Jacques,
the same was also suggested earlier in this thread http://markmail.org/message/wzve3wgaesvilvc2 BUT, Using headers only help mail clients software who are aware of these MIME headers for mere mortals footer is essential. you cannot totally rely just on those headers. regds mallah. Thanks Rajesh,
Yes that's what I thought, because I guess [hidden email] picked footers for this reason Jacques Le 11/09/2017 à 09:23, Rajesh Mallah a écrit : > Hi Jacques, > > the same was also suggested earlier in this thread > > http://markmail.org/message/wzve3wgaesvilvc2 > > BUT, Using headers only help mail clients software who are > aware of these MIME headers for mere mortals footer is essential. > you cannot totally rely just on those headers. > > regds > mallah. > > > > > > On Mon, Sep 11, 2017 at 12:39 PM, Jacques Le Roux < > [hidden email]> wrote: > >> Hi Deepak, >> >> Sound like a plan :) >> >> What about people using only text emails, will it work also for them? >> >> Thanks >> >> Jacques >> >> >> >> Le 11/09/2017 à 06:59, Deepak Dixit a écrit : >> >>> I think we can explore possibility to use List-Unsubscribe email header. >>> >>> The List-Unsubscribe header is an optional chunk of text that email >>> publishers and marketers can include in the header portion of the messages >>> they send.
