Promotion Codes being accepted, but not modifying $$ in the cart.

cjhorton
Hi All,

I am having an issue with getting a manually entered promotion to work.  I am trying this on the demo server. I basically want to create a promotion code that when entered for a given product, will charge the price entered in the promotion rule.

Here are the steps I took:
-In the Catalog component I Created a new promotion named "CJTestPromo" with user entered, show to customer, and req code all set to "Y".

-Under the rules tab I created one rule named "CJPromoRule" with one condition set to: X Quantity of Product -- is greater than or equal to -- 1.  I left the conditions category empty and set the conditions products to "CJ-002". I created one action ..Product for [Special Promo] Price and an amount of 27.50.

-Under the stores tab I entered the ecommerce store(9000)

-Under the promotions code tab I entered a new promotions code with a promotion code id of just 12345, user entered ="Y", require email = "N", and a from date of a few days ago.

I then logged in to the demo server ecommerce site, added the item CJ-002 to the cart, navigated to the "view cart" screen and entered the 12345 promotion code.  It accepted the code(added Entered Codes: 12345 to the right of the form box), but the price of the item was not modified.  Under the Promotion Information at the bottom of the view cart screen it says: "Cart Item Use in Promotions:
Item # 1 [CJ-002] - 0/1 Used - 1 Available"

In addition, I tried many variations of the rules tab and promotion code tab in the catalog manager and experienced the same result.  I read through the wiki and ML and am not seeing why this isn't working.  Am I totally missing the boat on how to do this?

Thanks,

CJ

apologize for not getting back to you before the example was removed.
if you look at
https://demo.hotwaxmedia.com/catalog/control/EditProductPromoRules?productPromoId=9012
you will see that
And Group: is _NA_
this may not make since from a business point of view but from a data
point of view when there is a relationship if it is not satisfied, no
record will appear. So ofbiz has a _NA_ record that is used.

try this and see if it works.

Ugh, so I figured out what I was doing wrong.  I was misinterpreting the
rule.  Instead of using "Product for [Special Promo] Price" I should have
been using "X Product for Y Price".  I had seen the rule used in one of the
promotion examples, but was thinking of it only in the context of a bulk
buy.

Thanks for your patience and help.
