I'm trying to setup a promotion for my client. I setup a Product Category called Photo Package. Any time the cashier (we are using POS at their stores) hits a couple of products withing this category the customer is entitled for a promotional discount. So, let's say they buy (1) 8X10 photo and (4) 3.5X5 photo, they should get a quantity discount. The 8X10 Photo list price is $24.99 and the 3.5X5 photos is also $24.99.
I tried setting up a Price Rule for this, but it did not work because the Product Category only limits the rules, but it does not give the discount for the entire order, just for each individual product. The price rule only works if the client buys 2 of the same product. I then tried setting up Promotions for this Product Category, so that when the client purchases 2 items within the Product Category Photo Package, they get 2 (X) Products for $37.98 (Y) Price. This is also not working...it only works if they buy 2 of the same product. Does anyone have any ideas on how to set this up? Thank you, Evangelina Bowman |
Just to clarify, is the promotion like this:
Buy X number of products from category Y and receive Z% off those products? Scott On 08/11/2007, Evangelina Bowman <[hidden email]> wrote: > > I'm trying to setup a promotion for my client. Have you considered setting these up as marketing packages? Might be simpler. -Dave Evangelina Bowman wrote: > I'm trying to setup a promotion for my client. This is how the promotion goes:
Buy X (2) number of products from category Y and receive 2nd product for Z (12.99) dollars Another promotion: Buy X (3) number of products from category Y and receive 3rd product for Z (10.99) dollars

Dave,
The only problem with the marketing package scenario: I can have 9X3 combinations of marketing packages for the photo packages plus all other products which need to fit in the POS terminal. There is a limit on the number of POS buttons. Thanks!

That should be easy enough to set up, I don't have time right now but
I'll try and put an example on hotwax's demo server for you to look at later on today.
