QuickShipEntireOrder

vivek mishra-3
Hello Folks,

On quick shipping entire order, I found that order is packed and a shipment
is created. But in the facility manager shipment status is shown as packed
not shipped.

Does quick ship entire order feature automate the shipment process till
packaging and then it needs to be shipped manually. Though in my opinion it
should ship the order as well.

Please provide your suggestion and correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Vivek,

There are many triggers works on the shipment status SHIPMENT_PACKED. And
if you logically see then for a shipment to be shipped organization would
required to generate the shipping label and apply it on shipping package
before saying it has been shipped. So what quick ship entire order does is
actually correct, a order is ready to go into shipped status after applying
shipping labels.

If you go thru manual shipping process of order completion you will better
understand the steps involved and could understand why quick ship entire
order stops after packing.

Thanks for the reply Rishi.

Yes I know a postage (shipping label) needs to be generated after packaging
the shipment. But I think in quick ship entire order process, once a
shipping label is generated shipment should be having shipped status
instead of packed status. This process should not be having any manual
intervension as it creates confusion.

Or else link name should be changed to quickpackentireorder from
quickshipentireorder.

Thanks & Regards,

I don't agree. For me, you have still to ship it and this let you a reminder for manually completing the process
Pushing a button will not magically send the shipment.
Of course you could argue that packing was also virtually done, this is a moot point...

Opinions?

Re: QuickShipEntireOrder

Agree with Jacques, I think in general packing is done in house and for
shipping generally organization is depending on some external link. So when
you say quick ship entire order only does the packing is fine, and on
packing status is last status which is done by the organization for the
next status organization in general dependent.

If we do directly the shipped status then what happens with the triggers
which are on Packed status. There might be opinion code should do first
pack and then shipped. But after packing backend user needs to check
weather all triggers pulls and post the data properly or not then ship.

We can discuss on the changing the label to 'Quick Pack Entire Order'. My
opinion on this is to not change it, a backend user either won't use it or
if uses then order is packed and ready for ship is matches with label.
Still I would lean on others opinions.
