Retrieving configuration info from order

Hi,

I'm trying to find out how the product configuration information is stored after an order has been placed.

What I've observed is that a new 'Configurable good configuration' product is created and associated with the configurable product added to cart.
This is the product associated with the order.

This product though had no information regarding what options from the configurable product were selected.

How do I get the actual configuration that the user selected for the product?

Am I being thick here or did I miss an obvious trick?
