with ofbiz.

Sure, find yourself an email -> sms gateway and use the email sending
function for that.

Is it possible to get OFBiz to email a supplier when an order is taken for their product?

You can create a "seca" for that to send an email when a certain event
has happened....

There are several examples in the system.

if you wish to have a template file like for customer emails you will
need to develop that then hook it into order stream, as Hans suggested
