Users - how should quick refunded inventory work?

Si Chen-2
Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask your opinion on how the [quick refund entire order]
should handle inventory.

Currently, it will receive all the items back into the warehouse as
serialized inventory in the status of "Returned."  What this means is
that it is added back to QOH, but you have to then go to the warehouse
and change its status to "Accepted" before it is actually counted in ATP.

I think this is the right way to go if the inventory is already
serialized, but if it is not, introducing serialized inventory to a
company that doesn't otherwise use it is an inconvenience.

My proposal is that if there is already serialized inventory for this
item, then the returned items be received inventory as they are now.  If
this item is currently not serialized, however, then it will receive all
of the items back in as one inventory item with ATP/QOH = return =
order.quantity.

Notice I'm only talking about the [quick refund entire order] feature here.

Si

Si,

I think this proposal is fine. I believe the serialized only
functionality was put in because it is both the easiest and the
safest option to go with and allows for better control over items
that are not in re-sellable shape, or that need some repair.

With this change the assumption would be that the returned items are
in good condition and ready to re-sell. For something like the quick
refund stuff, this is probably fine.

Hi

That sounds good...

It might be worth a label change to suggest this functionality, so
someone doesn't use quick refund entire order with goods that should not
be returned to inventory at all...

For example: "Quick Refund to Stock" or "Quick Refund & Restock"

Or  Maybe its worth putting in two Quick Refund services...  one to
restock, and one to track inventory.

David, Daniel -

Thanks for your feedback.  I think the best thing is to re-stock the
quick refunded items and then use inventory variance to charge them off
if they are in bad condition.
