The wiki has information on this.  I use remote debugging in eclipse.  I find that the easiest way to debug.  Here is a link with more information:

Hi Brett,
I followed the steps given in "http://ofbizwiki.go-integral.com/Wiki.jsp?page=DebuggingOFBizInEclipse" for debugging ofbiz in eclipse. A pop window says "Errors exist in required project.continue launch?".
If I click "OK", I get the following errors,
