Hi,

I have already asked this question, but does somebody knows why we have ebay and ebay store components? What are the key diffs
between them?

Thanks

Jacques

Re: ebay vs ebay store

BJ Freeman
ok quick review.
ebay was first.
ebaystore had more of the ebay API fleshed out in services.
ebaystore also has the help.
I will put out a email on the user list to see if anyone has ebay in a
production server.

if no response in a month then I suggest we remove ebay.

eBay Store (newer component) has more features then eBay (old component). I think community can safely discard old eBay component. Do we really in comparison chart?

Hi,

ebay component functionalities is working fine on latest trunk but
ebaystore component having some issues. So before removing ebay
component we should make sure that ebaystore component functionalities
are working properly. I have created task for ebay and ebaystore misc
issues https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-4118

I continued my development of
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-1911
so don't  use either ebay or ebaystore.

OK I received an answer from Arun Patidar: <<FYI here ebayStore component is using EbayHelper class of ebay component, so there is
dependency of ebayStore component on ebay component. >>
He is currently handling fixes in ebaystore... at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-4118

BTW, I just found that it's not the only dependency, EbayShippingMethod entity is also set in DemoEbayData.xml and used in
EbayHelpData.xml.

I think we should extract the needed from ebay to ebaystore and then drop ebay component. Hopefully it's not too much work...

Thanks

Jacques

Re: ebay vs ebay store

Hello All,

Some ebayStore functionalities are missing in 10.04 such as functionality of import order from ebay. So should we back port that missing functionality in 10.04 release. Because without that functionality I think ebayStore is worthless in 10.04. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks & Regards

+1 for backporting, since it seems useless w/out. It's a kind of "funtionnal bug"

In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
back-porting for functional changes openup more bugs of the coding type.
It also opens up this policy for other "Functional" back ports that has
been vetoed in the pass.

so I am for it if the policy for "functional" back ports is not accepted.

Policy? We were not talking about changing "policies" here... it was a matter of discussing a specific topic: rules are good and useful in general because they offer a guideline that helps to question how a change should be done; for specific situations were the policies don't fit well a discussion is due... this is what is happening there.

BJ Freeman
not sure how what you said differs from what I said.
You point out a no difference between Policies and rules, from what I
pick up.
since I said I am for it this would be a deviation, and agreement with you.
