help system

chris snow-2
I haven't had chance to do a deep investigation of the help system yet, but
I have a few futher questions:

1) is the main purpose of the content management records to link the current
screen to the appropriate help content?
2) could the help system be replaced with the eclipse help system?  the
eclipse help system has some nice additional functionality such as search?

Many thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,
-->
http://localhost:8080/cmssite/cms/APACHE_OFBIZ_HTML#helpInternationalization

for searching in the help system, we could use what is built-in OFBiz at
the moment. Lucene is broken, but we should upgrade it and make it work
again. Scott was telling me he had something waiting to be committed.
Then, a simple search interface would have to be added so we could
search into the help system.

HTH,

Hi Erwan, why build a help system when the eclipse help system has more
features and is very mature - see it in action here:

Sitting back, drinking a nice cool beer and reading the mailing list... It seems like there is a lot of re-work/extra-work done in the open source community (including ofbiz) because of a lack of cohesive licenses. I am NOT an expert on the open source community or the various camps (free software and all source code, vs commercial variants), but it is a little sad and discouraging when it appears like the only course for our ofbiz project is to do-more-proprietary technology.... yet another piece of technology to add to the ofbiz pile....

Just a curious note about EPL, isn't BIRT covered by this license and it has found it's way into ofbiz....

Isn't BIRT under the EPL?
