Al,
The new permission code should be implemented as simple methods and be documented for customization. This will be one of the toughest parts of the work. I have started writing a little code for this which I can post here in JIRA once I get it just a little further along. These content permissions are pretty darn complex, so having your help here would be great! Later today I will try to post up what I have so far.
