error message of login service does not show with common/messages.ftl

if i login to the system and type in a wrong password only the message: "The Following Errors Occurred:" appears.
The actual message as is shown in the log:

2009-01-27 12:50:47,270 (http-0.0.0.0-8443-1) [ ServiceDispatcher.java:522:ERROR] Error in Service [userLogin]: Password incorrect.

does not appear.....i checked, the service returns the message properly however it does not arrive in the messages.ftl so somewhere in the framework it gets lost.....
