We are testing in IE 8 on Windows 7 (64 bit, if that matters) and are unable to select an item in the layered lookup to be returned to the calling screen. The error in the status bar of the browser is "error on page". The attached screenshot is from the Show Details of the Error on the page message.

This works just fine in Firefox.

I think I will have to ask for a MSDN kit (as an Apache committer Microsoft - which is ASF sponsor - offer it to us) because I have no Windows 7 at hand. The most annoying part is the 64 bits stuff since I have no 64 bits machine. Anyway, I would be surprised that we will not find and answer in the OFBiz community in the week... I will try that...

Also, when running in Firefox on Windows 7, selecting an item in the layered lookup does get moved to the field on the calling form, but the layered lookup does not close.

IE8 on Vista and Windows 7 has a new security restriction that is turned on by default for ALL zones on the security tab.
Go to Internet Options - Security Tab - Internet - click on the "Custom" button then scroll down to the Miscellaneous section. There are several entries that control the JavaScript engine in IE8. One of them is named "Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints". This item is disabled in all zones in IE8. That means that any link that calls a JavaScript function that opens a new window will not work if the size or location of the new window is not specified in the link. Change this item to "Enable" and those links will work again. You must do this for all zones.

Bottom line - the Window.Open() function will not work if you don't specify at least the new window size or position in the function call.

I have to wait my MSDN kit (as ASF committe) or hoping that someone using IE8 in Window 7 will try it (Should be today as I have asked the person who reoprted the "bug")

Hi Jacques, that can't be an issue of the new lookups. openr() is used from the old lookups to call the lookup window. The layer lookup works with a simple div parent reference.
Furtermore i try to reproduce the bug on Win7 IE8. But can't find it.
