[jira] Created: (OFBIZ-4073) help screen pattern not consistent.

Nicolas Malin (Jira)
help screen pattern not consistent.
-----------------------------------

                 Key: OFBIZ-4073
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-4073
             Project: OFBiz
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: ALL COMPONENTS
Affects Versions: Release Branch 10.04, SVN trunk
            Reporter: BJ Freeman
Fix For: Release Branch 10.04, SVN trunk

I went to the party main page and clicked on help.
got what I consider a good pattern for help.
then when to catalog and got a different pattern.
I also notice that the layout has changed.

then there is the pattern for my portlet.
only comment from a User point of view using portlets is confusing.
word like section or area would be closer to what a user would understand.

so what is the direction we are going?

Hi BJ,

I guess the
* party behaviour is when there is no home page for the component
* catalog is a default home page  (like a template not filled)
* my portal is when there a real home page

I am talkihg about look and feel.
Catalog has a link at the top for index and close
Party  shows the index with no link for index and close
my portal has the format of the party with links to Portlets which for help screen is confusing since people are looking for subjects.

Ha, I see your point now. IMO, the better (more complete) format would be like myPortal. But I agree that links to portals going actually to index are confusing. I think all that is incomplete and needs more work anyway...

I would recommend to create an Help umbrella task and to put existing issues as subtasks under. And the to create new subtasks when needed. It's quicker than searching thereafter and you can follow the process at a glance...
